I have said before to my friends that I have literally grown up round the paranormal. It's quite true too. My grandmother's house was full of them. None of them particularly nasty more mischievous on the whole. There were some that used to hide things from her and then return them to her a few days later by returning what they had taken to the same spot.
Also I remember one other visitor. She was someone known to the family. She was my grandmother's best friend and some in the family believed lesbian lover, though naturally there was no proof on that one. She died when I was about ten I guess. I recall sleeping in the front room of the house and hearing footsteps. Nothing unusual in that as my Grandmother would often be up long after I had gone to bed. However this particular night she had gone to bed. Some keys rattled in a door which wasn't there. How do I know it wasn't there? Because none of the inner doors at that time had locks and a voice which I knew instantly as Miss Bowyer said to me "Goodnight, sleep well" and then lent over me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. It felt cold and chilled me, yet did not scare me at all. Many years later I was talking to my cousin who stopped over quite often, he said that he had the same experience a few times too.
